Back, Neck & Joint Pain Physiotherapy

Treat the cause, not just the ache.

Assessment-led treatment for back, neck and joint pain in Dubai Healthcare City — aimed at what is driving the pain rather than masking it.

Back, neck and joint pain is one of the most common reasons people come to us, and one of the most commonly mistreated — because the place that hurts is not always the place causing the problem.

Treatment begins with an assessment: what you do, how you move, what makes it better and worse, and what you have already tried. Only then does a plan make sense.

Why physiotherapy for this

For most common musculoskeletal pain, guidelines internationally recommend an active, exercise-based approach before imaging, injections or surgery are considered. It is not a fallback — it is the first-line treatment the evidence supports.

Beyond settling the current episode, the work targets what made you vulnerable in the first place: how you load the area, the strength supporting it, and the daily habits around it. That is the part that changes whether the pain comes back.

What treatment involves

A first appointment is mostly assessment — history, movement testing, and identifying what is actually driving your symptoms.

Sessions typically combine hands-on treatment, targeted mobility and strengthening work, and practical changes to how you sit, lift, train or sleep. You leave with a home programme, because what you do between sessions is where most of the progress happens.

Your plan is adjusted as you improve. If your response suggests something else is going on, we say so and reassess rather than continuing a plan that is not working.

What recovery realistically looks like

Many people notice a change in comfort or movement within the first few sessions. How long full recovery takes depends on the problem, how severe it is and how long you have had it — a recent strain and a three-year pattern are not the same job.

Your physiotherapist will give you a realistic timeline after the assessment rather than at the enquiry stage, because a number given before anyone has examined you is a guess.

When we would send you elsewhere first

Physiotherapy is the right answer for most of this, but not for all of it. We would arrange medical review rather than start treatment if there were progressive weakness or numbness, any change in bladder or bowel function, pain after significant trauma, or pain with fever or unexplained weight loss.

Saying so is part of the assessment, not a failure of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the problem, its severity and how long you have had it. Some people improve in a few sessions; long-standing problems take longer. Your physiotherapist gives you a realistic estimate after the assessment, not before.

In most cases you can book an assessment directly. If we think further medical investigation is needed, we will tell you and help coordinate it.

Generally not. Some techniques and exercises cause mild, temporary discomfort as you work through stiffness or weakness, and your physiotherapist adjusts to what you can tolerate.

Yes. For long-standing pain the focus shifts towards restoring function, building strength and giving you ways to manage and reduce symptoms, rather than expecting a quick resolution.

Yes, and they matter. What you do between sessions accounts for most of the progress; a programme followed occasionally has not really been tried.

Physiotherapy is commonly covered in the UAE, but it always depends on your insurer, policy, network and any referral or pre-approval requirement. Send us your details and we will check before you book.

We will discuss what you would like to achieve, explain how the treatment works and help you understand what you can realistically expect.
